Secondary Research

To understand the problem of ineffective class rescheduling and cancellation notifications, I conducted secondary research and interviews. Secondary research highlighted common issues in college communication systems, such as delays and lack of real-time updates.

Interviews

To gain deeper insights, I interviewed four students. They shared frustrations about not checking slate announcements promptly, often driving to campus in adverse weather conditions only to find their classes were canceled, wasting time and effort. This primary research underscored the need for a more immediate and reliable notification system.

Research Findings

What do people want?

Secondary Research Image

The research revealed significant gaps in the current class notification system, leading to inefficiencies and frustrations among students. They desire real-time updates and immediate notifications to avoid unnecessary trips and better manage their schedules. These findings underscore the need for a mobile solution that delivers timely and reliable class status updates, enhancing the overall student experience.

Future Considerations

Learnings

This designing exercise made me realize how much thought goes into each design decision, from the login flow to the designing of a widget. Each decision needs to be well thought out and executed.

Future Steps

To develop this app further I would like to detail the settings and profile wireframes, to get a better understanding of the personalisation features of the app for the user.

Thanks.
